Some drugs may make it harder for you to lose weight, either because of a tendency to encourage fluid retention, or by interfering with metabolism.
The prescription drugs that can have weight-gain as a direct effect are:
* Hormones such as oral contraceptives, hormone replacement therapies and male sex hormones
* drugs for diabetes
* drugs acting on the central nervous system, such as antidepressants and tranquilizers.
* drugs for prevention of migraine
* anti-inflammatory drugs
* antihistamines
Moderate and adequate exercise will enable you to lose weight. Tell your physicians if you are taking supplements in addition to prescribed drugs.
